Experience #2
The Tex-Mex Fiesta
It's "Summer O'clock" is the name of our mix this week because we started this project too late in the year but found a couple of days where we could sit outside for one final feast with some friends. This is an organic house chill mix to keep you going for the whole afternoon.
We say "feast" and we mean it but don't worry about time, we've done this with recipes that can be either prepared ahead of time and are easy to cook and serve. We made this for a brunch so we started around 11am and by midday we were already sharing the starter.

Wine Selection

This 1000 Stories Zinfandel is probably one of the most interesting wines we've come across in recent years. It's a Californian wine that blends grapes from Lodi's historic sites, Mendocino County, and San Luis Obispo, each bringing its own vibe to the mix. We drank a bottle from batch 87 (each batch is slightly different). Batch 87 gets cozy in French and American oak, with a little detour into aged bourbon barrels for extra character. Think aromas of strawberry, raspberry, and dark cherry, with hints of vanilla and caramel. The notes of herbs and pepper immediately elevate the grilled flavours of the beef and vegetables, while the savoury flavours of grilled pepper and onions enhance the fruitiness of the wine. Although sometimes the flavour of the meat can be lost among the many other ingredients in a fajita, the acidity of this Zinfandel brings out the meat flavours of the steak. At the end the vibrant fruitiness of the wine leaves a long lingering finish and gets you ready for the next bite.
